DJ DeeKay - In The Mix

Jodie Connor - SB.TV A64

For the sake of full disclosure, about a month ago I wasn't that sure about Jodie Connor. I liked her image, but I just wasn't entirely convinced. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. The single's a slow burner that's stuck in my head, she's got such a sweet quality to her voice (as is evident from this A64) and I really think she's going to be huge.

I also picked her as one of the Redtop NEXT: 2011 artists, alongside four other massive homegrown talents. This week we put on a photo shoot with all of the NEXT artists together, which was pretty crazy. Look out for that. It's a lot more exciting than I'm letting on!

Devlin featuring Labrinth - Let It Go (VIDEO)

Surely this is a definite top ten? The two most interesting breakthrough "Urban" acts of 2010 for me. Not including Runaway which I played to death before the album dropped, this is probably my favourite song on Bud, Sweat and Beers.

Yasmin - On My Own (VIDEO)

This is sounding more like a hit with every listen. Video is cool, she looks great. Yasmin's voice isn't the most powerful but I really like her tone and I think her songwriting might carry her across the finish line.

Not to mention she looks like exactly the kind of popstar we need right now - the antithesis of the blonde, half-naked bimbos running around the charts. After the success of Runaway and the strength of this single, she's definitely an artist to look out for in 2011.

Shy FX featuring Kano, Donaeo and Roses Gabor - Raver (VIDEO)

From Shy FX's album Larger Than Life which drops next year. Check all the cameos. Such a big tune with a suitably cool video.

Sunday, 28 November 2010

Game Over (Female remix)

Ruff Diamondz, A Dot, Envy, Cherri V, Baby Blue, RoxXxan, Lioness, Mz Bratt and Lady Leshurr line up for this one.

Thursday, 25 November 2010

ANGEL - Do It Like A Dude (Mandem remix)

Angel is big, but if ever a song didn't need to be remixed from the perspective of a guy, it's this. No Pigeons it ain't. People seem to be feeling it though, so what do I know...

PS Island Records are taking the piss. Sickest roster by far.

Wednesday, 24 November 2010

Mz Bratt - Get Dark

Not everyone will agree but I think Bratt is the best total package female MC around by a long way and she's gone clear with this tune. Commercially viable, massive fan base, good on stage, strong image and I think she's really finding her niche musically and lyrically now. She's gonna make some money in 2010.

Sunday, 21 November 2010

Janiece Myers featuring Wiley - Underground Love (VIDEO)

Out tomorrow. Really like this video and the tune's been a banger since the Summer. Wiley murks, both verses are nice. I'm rooting for Liverpool's scene right now, they've got some gifted individuals up there. There's a few artists from Liverpool and Manny who could come down here and do some real damage to the charts.

"And the stage is way too big for me // Labels never thought this guy from the ghetto could make all these girls sing for me..." ( c ) Dappy

Skepta featuring N-Dubz - So Alive

Yeah the hook is mild cheddar but it's hardly Good Times is it? Considering Skepta's effectively on Universal, even though his sound has changed colossally, he hasn't gone for bait pop like some other artists. On the other hand he hasn't achieved the runaway "instant" success of those other guys, but slow and steady wins the race.

Saturday, 20 November 2010

Maxsta Sends For Chipmunk

Normally I wouldn't indulge this kinda thing but Maxsta is dangerous. If something convinces Chipmunk to reply, this could get so interesting.

Sway - Wow (Pow 2011)

Sway's eight bars and them some from Lethal B's Pow remake.

Sunday, 14 November 2010

Loick Essien featuring Dappy - Stuttering

Dope! Loick is such a strong R&B artist. These are Usher-esque vocals and melodies and top-class (glossy) production.

Saturday, 13 November 2010

Rihanna - Skin

R.I.O - Forgive Me (VIDEO)

Powerful Hip-Hop coming out of Manchester. Taken from his free download mixtape Bottom To The Top.

Tinchy Stryder - Famous (VIDEO)

Tinchy's album Third Strike is out on Monday and is surprisingly enjoyable. Much better than Catch 22, with much less pop. The boy did good.

"Good weed, white white, I come alive in the night time // Okay, away we go, only thing we have on is the radio..." ( c ) Drake

Rihanna featuring Drake - What's My Name (VIDEO)

US Billboard Number One after only two weeks on the chart. Told y'all this was a monster.

Say one thing about Rihanna, she's sexier than ever with this album. I don't necessarily mean how she looks, I mean the music. Between this track and Skin, she's saying a lot of things.

Friday, 12 November 2010

Yasmin - On My Own

I liked this on my tinny laptop speakers because Yasmin's vocal is tight, but I've just heard it on a big system and Shy FX went in on the production. Future hit I think, I can hear this getting love on radio.

Thursday, 11 November 2010

Fugative featuring Mz Bratt and Wiley - Hard (VIDEO)

2011 is gonna be a big year for Bratt. Wait and see. Her and Wiley do so much on this.

Chipmunk Talks To Hip-Hop Chronicle About His New Album, Westwood and Wiley, Twitter and Regaining His Hunger

What he says here about his singles being largely unrepresentative of his debut album is true. The singles were fluff, the album was a generally outstanding debut from a kid at college.

I hope he's not gassing about putting out less poppy and "safe" singles for his forthcoming sophomore LP. He's lyrically one of the most gifted MCs in the mainstream and, like Devlin, he's capable of doing things musically that are beyond some of the guys in the charts right now. Hopefully he shows that talent this time around.

Dirty Money featuring Skepta - Hello, Good Morning (Grime remix) (VIDEO)

Crazy.

Jessie J - Who You Are (Trailer)

Chinners (jokingly) accused me of being Jessie's PR last week on Fresh Cuts. I assure you, I'm not, but I suppose she is my latest musical obsession. But only because her voice is world-class and her songwriting is world-class and I'm gushing at the level of exceptional talent in this country at this point in time. This is one album I'm dying to hear.

Tuesday, 2 November 2010

N-Dubz featuring Loick Essien - Girls (remix)

"She can be Egyptian, Morrocan, Indian or Russian, it don't really matter..."
- Dun know.

Loick adds his vocals to N-Dubz's new single. Really he should've remixed the whole track because his 30 seconds on this are the best thing about it, and there's not enough of this kind of adding R&B flavour to big tracks from the top-tier UK vocalists in my opinion. Just Cherri V doing it really. Someone needs to come along and run away with people's instrumentals the way Trey Songz does over in the States.

Anyway, enjoy. This kid is gifted. I only realised recently but he sounds a bit like Usher too. Tonally I guess.

Tinchy Stryder featuring Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example and Chipmunk - Game Over (VIDEO)

Most anticipated video of the year.

So are we all agreed Devlin's the best in the country yet? Example did a bit on this though. And actually, even though people are hating on him, Chipmunk's verse was slightly great, on some "I'm not trying, I'm just making outlandish statements" shit.

The track definitely lived up to the anticipation, the video's a bit simple for me. But if the rumours of various remixes are true, boooooy... Tinchy's made the biggest move for the scene.

Rewd Adams (aka Skandal) - Suttin To Prove (VIDEO)

One of the nicest guys in UK Hip-Hop is back under his new moniker and will be on Fresh Cuts very soon. This track is so dope, feeling the video too.

Eliza Doolittle - F*ck You (Cover) (VIDEO)

Umm... I have a serious crush on her. Can I say that?

Ricky Blaze - Just You And I (VIDEO)

This riddim is most famous for being the instrumental to Gyptian's ever-present Hold Yuh. New York's Ricky Blaze produced the track, and this is his attempt at vocalling the summer smash. Not quite as successful as the original but it was ringing off in his hometown and all over radio there a few months back.

Sounds fresh after a few months away from it, which you definitely couldn't say about the Gyptian track. And the video girl is alot.

"Na Na Naaaiiiii..." ( c ) Dappy

This is why they're hot...

Bangers for days. And that's not even going for the bait singles.

N-Dubz - Girls (VIDEO)

New month, new start and all that.

Anyway, I can't justify liking N-Dubz as anything more than a guilty pleasure any more. This video is bordering on parody. With that said, as happens with most of their music, I've grown to love it. After all, Tulisa is "the biggest female boss that ever lived...". If I didn't feel it, I'd just be hating.

This is the second consecutive track on which Fazer's done alot though. Who'd have thunk it?! Also Dappy can actually spit, as soon as somebody outside of N-Dubz realises this and puts him on a 16-bar feature people will see. He kills this until the last two bars where it goes downhill a bit.

Bruno Mars Live on SNL

The most talented breakthrough artist of 2010 performed his UK Number One single Just The Way You Are and Grenade from his album Doo-Wops and Hooligans on Saturday Night Live. Spotted at Mr World Premiere.

Friday, 8 October 2010

"Know you've got some expensive taste // Tell me baby girl what's your fave // Tell me baby girl what you drink..." ( c ) Jeremih

Jeremih - Waiter/5 Senses

Shatap. Jeremih is a badman when it comes to making these tracks. From Birthday Sex to I Like to this, he's killing it.

Thursday, 7 October 2010

Magnetic Man featuring Katy B - Perfect Stranger (Live @ Maida Vale)

Magnetic Man and Katy's haunting vocals alongside live strings. Genuinely incredible, if you can't appreciate this you're probably lost.

Monday, 4 October 2010

P Money - Ho! Riddim (VIDEO)

P's extremely good. How did Swerve slyly become one of the hardest producers?!

Giggs - Out There (VIDEO) (Directed by SB.TV and Morgan Keyz)

It's SB.TV again. Giggs' album was nuts, as is this "hood" video.

Saturday, 2 October 2010

Jessie J - Do It Like A Dude

Debut single from this much talked about young lady. This is the original, Labrinth's produced the remix which got its debut on Mistajam's show a few minutes ago.

Friday, 1 October 2010

Raghav featuring Bashy - So Much (UK remix) (VIDEO)

The girl's still ridiculously hot and Bashy's verse is quite good but even still this isn't quite on the level of the original.

With that said, it's still a banger that deserves mainstream recognition.

Ed Sheeran - Could Just Be The Bassline (Produced by Mark Hill)

Dope.

Thursday, 30 September 2010

Ed Sheeran goes bar-for-bar with Devlin

Two of the dopest artists in the UK right now catching a vibe backstage at the Example tour. It's actually a bit traumatic how far ahead Devlin is of everybody else right now. More so than even Kano in 2003-05.

Tuesday, 28 September 2010

Eliza Doolittle - Rollerblades (VIDEO)

Eliza Doolittle's kind of a guilty pop pleasure for me, I could watch this video all day long. And not just for the obvious reasons.

Sunday, 26 September 2010

Cee-Lo - F*ck You (Live @ 1Xtra Live) (VIDEO)

Tinchy Stryder brings out Pro Green, Tinie Tempah and Devlin at 1Xtra Live (VIDEO)

A historic moment took place on the Wembley Arena stage last night. This is the closest we've gotten to a Forever/Swagger Like Us on-stage situation.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part I) (TRAILER)

I don't usually post trailers but this film looks INSANE.

Akala - Yours And My Children (VIDEO)

Dope video, phenomenal song from one of the best lyricists in the UK.

Thursday, 23 September 2010

Ruff Diamondz (Acoustic Showcase)

I foolishly slept on these girls for the longest time, mainly because as a grown-ass man, when I first saw them, their image just didn't appeal to me for whatever reason. With that said, I'd been hearing more and more about them over the past few months so when their mixtape was posted to me this week I gave it a spin out of sheer curiosity.

Turns out they're quite good. Tight vocals, relevant sound, good songs and a lot of industry support. As Chinners has pointed out to me on numerous occasions, the scene is pretty male-dominated at the moment but these girls could definitely rep for the ladies. You can peep the mixtape here.

Don't get it twisted though, I really like them, but that doesn't mean I co-sign Alright Stillll.

Tuesday, 21 September 2010

Marvell - We Know (VIDEO)

Double's singing again init. This is all Lil' Wayne's fault. Shocka goes in though.

Big up Marvell anyway, even though you man haven't sent me the track yet and it's mid-September.

Bluey Robinson - Live @ Roundhouse's Turning Point Festival 2010 (VIDEOS)

I was blessed to be able to watch and film this set (with my insane digital-camera-on-steroids) from the most ridiculous, no public access, sniper-esque vantage point. I came downstairs for I Know, which meant I don't have any footage of him killing that vocally, but really everyone should know the deal by now. Bluey's become quite the phenomenal live performer.

If you missed out on Turning Point last weekend and didn't catch the live stream on Myspace, you're pissed (apart from Chinners, she has a good excuse).

Nevermind though, check out these videos, hold back the tears of regret and book tickets for the Tinie Tempah tour (which Bluey will be opening on) now before they sell out. The Teenage Dirtbag performance and the Use Somebody/Club Can't Handle Me mashup have been getting bare reloads in my house.

Big up Bluey as well: let's not forget, the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Jay-Z, James Brown, Oasis, The Rolling Stones, Q-Tip, Smokey Robinson and Bob Dylan (to name just a few) have rocked that building. I personally wanted to see him much higher up the bill, but nonetheless, when he came off stage at about 5.30pm on Saturday night I was kinda proud.

RockCorps Allstars (Bashy, Wretch 32, Bluey Robinson, Cleo Sol, Davinche, Roll Deep and Aggro Santos) - Give A Little Love

The involvement of Bluey, Cleo Sol and Davinche means that even if this was mad cheesy it still would've gotten my support. As is, it's not too bad at all and RockCorps are doing alot. I've got a lot of love for what they're all about. Fingers crossed that when this drops on 10th October it'll go Top 40. I'm slyly hoping for Top 10 but I can't see it just yet.

On a side note, who wrote Davinche's bars?! His flow is kinda crazy, I didn't think the boy had it in him. He comes better than at least three of the actual full-time rappers who spit on this (Bashy and Wretch killed it a bit).

Sunday, 19 September 2010

Bluey Robinson - F*ck You (Live @ The Roundhouse) (VIDEO)

Bluey Robinson tore up the main space at the Roundhouse today as part of Turning Point Festival. His entire set was one extended highlight, and there's a few more videos to come (when I return from the makeshift 'weekend' away I'm taking up north until Tuesday) but I wanted to post these visuals of him performing a slightly less rude version of his massive Cee-Lo remix.

I'll go say a bit more about Turning Point in general and Bluey's performance specifically whenever I post those other videos (amongst which is a sick cover of Teenage Dirtbag) but you'll see from the above how well he commands the stage. That's one aspect of his performance that's improved every time I've seen him live - by the time he's at the stage where he's rocking massive festival crowds and arenas he's going to be a beast of a live performer.

Sunday, 12 September 2010

Loick Essien - Ancient (SB.TV A64)

I don't know why I wouldn't have posted this when it first dropped, but a quick Google search suggests it slipped under my radar. Can't wait to hear the studio version of it.

Love Drunk is out now, support that.

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are (Live @ YoYo)

Uploaded this ages ago and forgot to post it. Got a couple more videos from the night I may post later on today. Check the way the crowd knows all the words. This guy is a superstar.

The lighting at Notting Hill Arts Club is not remotely suited for filming but I do love my camera, it definitely makes the best of bad situations.

Saturday, 11 September 2010

Griminal - Supa Dupa (VIDEO)

Nearly missed this one.

N-Dubz - Best Behaviour (VIDEO)

At this point nobody should be surprised to learn that I genuinely love N-Dubz right? And not just on an "I fancy Tulisa" vibe, I really do enjoy (most of) their music, support their stuff on the radio and regularly argue with Chinners about them.

This is the fourth or fifth time N-Dubz have subtly adjusted their image - this time I presume it's to make them more friendly to the States where they've recently signed to the legendary Def Jam. The sound is subtly different too - they've dropped or toned down some of the N-Dubz-isms that made them jarring to more than a few people.

Anyway, this is alright. There's a couple of cringeworthy lyrics, but it's generally relatively inoffensive. Basically, until/unless they do something to directly piss me off, I'm going to stay supporting N-Dubz. Despite what the media might have you believe, they're good, humble and down-to-earth people with genuine talent who (a lot of people seem to forget) kicked down the door of the UK music scene for all of these artists to flood through. Personally I want them to win.

"A lifetime of dreaming, visualising paradise // I woke up, and rolled over and told my girl we're leaving..." ( c ) Devlin

Devlin featuring Yasmin - Runaway

Powerful music.

"As the carriage pulls away // I pull my lady closer and I tell her she's okay // Because if we never broke the barricades today we'd always be afraid..."

The way Devlin's developed as an artist from four years ago to now is so refreshing to see. He's the prototype for how raw lyrical talent can develop into a complete (and mainstream-friendly) package.

And when you look at the crap some of his contemporaries have released on major labels, it looks like his project's been handled phenomenally. This might be commercial but it sure as fuck isn't cheese. From the beat to Yasmin's classy vocals to Devlin's poignant bars, Runaway is a case study on how to make quality mainstream "Urban" music.

FREE DOWNLOAD: Bluey Robinson's remix of Cee-Lo's F*ck You

"Baby this is tomfoolery, stop updating your status talking shit..."

Here's Bluey Robinson's take on Cee-Lo Green's monster hit. I'd like to believe I was slightly involved in this remix happening. To quote the man himself, people are definitely gonna be "surprised". Disney-friendly it ain't.

Unsurprisingly though, it's pretty much amazing - this and 50 Cent's verse are the only successful remixes of Fuck You I've heard thus far. Both of them work because they're as funny (and almost as original) as the original. Artists take note.

You can download the high-quality MP3 here. And you can thank Bluey for giving it away for free (or curse him out if you think this song is about you) here.

Devlin - Runaway (Behind-The-Scenes)

It's not often I feel as strongly about a song as I do about this Devlin single, hence why I'm willing to post the radio rip, the behind-the-scenes, and, whenever it drops, the video.

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are (VIDEO)

To me, this is a beautiful song - beautifully written with a nice sentiment. It's not especially saccharine, even thought it could easily have been. That's testament to Bruno Mars' exceptional ability as a songwriter.

People got so gassed about Ne-Yo (and don't get me wrong, tracks like Fade Into The Background prove Ne-Yo has got skills) but Ne-Yo never wrote anything as out there as Cee-Lo's F*ck You or even Bruno's own Otherside. Genuinely ridiculous talent.

Jakwob - Here With Me (VIDEO)

Strange video, great song. Track's out on Monday.

Dot Rotten - Def Jam Rapstar Promo

This is tidy, there's a few more coming. Dot was a great call.

Tuesday, 7 September 2010

Maverick Sabre - SB.TV A64

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, there's something special going on in the UK right now. The amount of exceptional talent around at the moment is pretty remarkable. This 09/10 crop of vocalists, songwriters, producers and, to a lesser extent, MCs is like nothing we've really ever seen before.

People can talk about the Soul II Soul era but these days the likes of Bluey Robinson, Ed Sheeran, Maverick Sabre, Labrinth, Devlin, Katy B, Ghetts, Maxsta... the list could go on, but my point is these artists are no longer the exception, they're pretty much the rule. Admittedly, there's still a lot of crap out there and there's a whole lot of guys making electro-pop nonsense, but I honestly can't remember a time when so many prodigious talents have been buzzing simultaneously.

Monday, 6 September 2010

Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me (SB.TV A64)

Awesome. This single is out over here in November.

Devlin featuring Yasmin - Runaway

I was going to wait for the video to post this but I've been playing it so much this weekend.

Just a thought - this is quite a commercial song (in the vein of Chipmunk's Look For Me) but Devs hasn't compromised. His lyrics and rhyme schemes aren't exactly catchy, mainstream fare. Props to him for not dumbing down too much in an effort to chase the charts.

And Yasmin's vocals are so powerful. This is a big tune, I hope it breaks through.

"Almost there, almost there // feels like we've been getting nowhere..." ( c ) John Legend

Magnetic Man featuring John Legend - Almost There

Magnetic Man's self-titled debut album drops October 4th. Exciting, it sounds like it's going to be good. Even the slightly rubbish I Need Air did the job (and had a disgusting Digital Soundbwoy remix I only just heard over the weekend).

Sunday, 5 September 2010

Cher Lloyd's X-Factor Audition (Keri Hilson - Turn My Swag On

She did smash this. This is a 16-year-old girl from Malvern, Worcestershire remember. That's a town of less than 30,000. It's not a race thing, and I don't know the girl's background but that's an important fact to remember. She was nervous but she owned it.

With the UK market the way it is, this girl could make a lot of money. Whether she makes it or not I don't know but she's definitely the one I'm watching.

Friday, 3 September 2010

Thursday, 2 September 2010

"Oh you like me? What the hell does that mean? Don't be so ambiguous girl..." ( c ) Mike Posner

Big Sean featuring Mike Posner and Clinton Sparks - Ambiguous

Wow. Posner says what most guys have thought at some point or another in their lives with regard to a talking-in-riddles member of the opposite sex. Don't be mad, I'm just keeping it real.

"Are we gonna f*ck or not?"

From Big Sean's Finally Famous (Volume Three).

Cee-Lo - F*ck You (VIDEO)

Brilliant video.

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

Skepta featuring Preeya - Cross My Heart (VIDEO)

All of Skepta's outfits in this video are questionable but Preeya's doing alot. It's not a secret I've got a lil' thing for her but this is a banger from Skeppy anyway. Great move for the former Eastender too.

Tuesday, 31 August 2010

Magnetic Man - Perfect Stranger (Benga remix)

I knew Katy On A Mission was gonna be big, but Top 5? That's a great look. I'm rooting for Katy, she was shooting a video at Carnival yesterday with Ms Dynamite.

Benga takes the epic original (which is Magnetic Man's second single) and roughs it up a touch.

Saturday, 28 August 2010

Scorcher featuring Ed Sheeran - It's My Time (SB.TV A64)

Ed Sheeran yeah.

Just on a random note, there's so many UK "urban" tunes on the Radio 1 playlist right now it's ridiculous. And here's Ed covering Labrinth's Radio 1 playlisted Let The Sun Shine.

Mz Bratt - Selecta (VIDEO)

I don't care, this song is disgusting, Bratt murks. I like that she stepped out of her comfort zone with this and killed it.

Not too sure about the video yet, but it should definitely tick the boxes with her fanbase, and that's what matters really. But don't take her for any sort of joke, her vocal performance on this is impressive.

"She looks into the mirror, don't like what she sees // she's curvy but she wants the Cheryl Cole physique..." ( c ) Kano

Kano - Spaceship (Ras Kwame MC Session) (Produced by Chase and Status)

This is a banger obviously. Chase and Status did alot.

I'm with K on this one though, I don't give a fuck about that Cheryl Cole physique. I appreciate this isn't the platform for social commentary so I'll say no more.

Kanye West and Jay-Z featuring Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross - Monster

Nicki Minaj picks up the ball and runs away with it after genuinely impressive verses from Kanye and Hov. The latter's verse in particularly - disgusting rhyme structures ("I rape and pillage your village, women and children // everybody wanna know what my achilles heel is") and subliminals.

Jazmine Sullivan featuring Mary J Blige and Swizz Beatz - Goin' In Circles (remix)

I've got a confession - I'm not the world's biggest fan of the original. It's aaalright, but I'm not crazy for it the way most people are, and I loved Jazmine's last album.

With that said, it can't just be me that spazzed out slightly when Mary's vocals came in on this?! Absolutely ridiculous remix. And for once Swizzy's cheerleader schtick doesn't irritate me.

Tuesday, 24 August 2010

"I see you driving 'round town with the girl I love // and I'm like "f*ck you!".." ( c ) Cee-Lo

Nearly 2million views in less than a week. I suspect Mr Green has a hit with this one. Feel-good breakup music?

Bruno Mars is clearly a beast.

Roundhouse Radio Takes Over Mixcloud

So today was Roundhouse Radio's turn to curate Mixcloud, and Chinners put together this hour long showcase of what the station is all about.

Despite the station being my daily life for a year and a half, even I didn't realise the strength-in-depth and sheer variety of what we have on offer. A year ago there were only a handful of shows on the station, so its status now as one of the hottest up-and-comers that's on people's lips from 1Xtra to Rinse (and many places in between no doubt) is a testament to the hard work that's gone on behind-the-scenes there.

In the past twelve months we've increased the number of shows on the station by about 700%, put on a series of hugely successful live events, broadcast from the 4th Plinth and championed some of the freshest talent around.

When you've been blown away by the Cloudcast, check out the station here.

Jay Sean featuring Nicki Minaj - 2012 (VIDEO)

Ummm... if you really know me like that, this shouldn't surprise you, but guilty confession: I love this song.

"Sick flow, inundated with the doc bills..." ( c ) Nicki Minaj

Wonder if this has the highest number of South Asians in a US Billboard Top 10 (it's inevitable) video? Here he is talking to MTV about the track, the video and his forthcoming album.

Bashy - Fantasy (VIDEO)

The song is definitely not to my taste but the video's nice still. Not just because Preeya's in it.

Track's doing alright as well, constant daytime rotation on 1Xtra.

"I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this // but you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me..." ( c ) Mike Posner

Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me

Tolerate the 45secs of rubbish before the song actually starts (or skip past it). This is number six in the Billboard Hot 100 and I'm fairly sure if it gets a release over here, it's going to be a smash. Sounds very Radio 1 friendly, and actually a bit like the two Bruno Mars featuring hits that have dropped in the last couple of months.

And yet it's hard and is basically three minutes of strong pars. Posner's good, I've been listening to his album over the weekend and I'm quite impressed. Nice vocal tone, decent songwriter. Production treads the line between spacey/futuristic and 80s. He's worked with Labrinth, which is a pretty appropriate fit.

Oh and none of you girls ain't cooler than me, get outta here. Smiley face.

"Anybody reckoning they're levelling with Devlin // will get left f*cked like their features are feminine..." ( c ) Devlin

Umm lyrically, there's probably nobody better in this country right now. The rhyme schemes in this are completely ridiculous, I was sitting at work reloading this for about 90minutes with a screwface on Friday afternoon. Thank God for that corner desk.

30,000+ views in two days.

Kano - Artillery (KA:47)

Oiiii that Boxfresh turntable t-shirt. I need that in my life.

Cool, so first East London Is Back remix and now this. I see what he's on. It's got to be upsetting to a few MCs that Kano can go away for a bit, come back to Grime barely breaking a sweat and still be levelling. In reality that's how far ahead he was back in 2004/5 times.

Personally though, I need him to tone down the accent and go back to sounding entirely effortless like he did on tracks like Ghetto Kyote. But I'm being churlish really.

CD Spinz - Imagine (VIDEO)

Imagine, as dope as this is, that it only showcases about a tenth of this kid's talent. Some tempo specialist yout, if you heard what he does on Grime...

Those of you that pay attention might recall CD Spinz and partner-in-crime Laurie Unwin opened up for Bluey Robinson, Marvell and McLean at Fresh Cuts Live, at London's legendary Roundhouse in March.

They also put out a free album earlier this year, ch-ch-check it out.

But on another note, Spinz you're gonna lose at Rapstar yeah fam. Just be aware.

Labrinth - Let The Sun Shine (Viral Video)

Big tune. How long until it gets playlisted on Radio 1? Has to be in the next couple of weeks surely.

Preeya's Shimmy out now...

I did post this video a while back, but I was working on Ronnie Herel's show tonight and she passed through and was kinda lovely (and obviously stunning) so I figured I should show my support once more. She played a few bits from the album and they sound like future smashes, don't sleep. Personally I'm dying to hear the tune with Labrinth.

Plus if I needed any more excuses, she's Asian and she's a Gemini. And she's awesome (it's one of the personality traits us Geminis have, don't you know...).

Listen back to the Ronnie Herel interview here (it starts about an hour and twenty minutes in).

Shimmy is available to purchase now from iTunes.

Now I'm off to bed.

Magnetic Man featuring Katy B - Perfect Stranger

This is an album I'm excited about. I Need Air is out now. If you like it, buy it and help get it to #1.

"She said she likes them smooth, likes them smart, likes them cool // I told her I'll be that man, if anyone could I can..." ( c ) Labrinth

Labrinth - In Da Bag

Been revisiting this one today, massive tune.

Ny featuring Griminal and Ironik - Sea Sick (remix)

The original wasn't my favourite Ny tune, but this is up there. Very glad Ny decided not to leave this lost in the archives.

Lily McKenzie - SB.TV A64

Someone showed me this a lil' while ago (the original is one of the aforementioned UK Funky tracks I felt this year), and I was sufficiently impressed but forgot to post it up.

As someone that likes actual singers and enjoys acoustic performances, SB's A64s are alot for me. The F64s get all the hype but people that know... know.

Shani Cuppcake - SB.TV A64

There's a few great vocalists being wasted on Funky right now. No disrespect to the UK Funky scene, even this year whilst in somewhat of a lull period, there's been a few straight bangers (The Fives' It's What You Do comes to mind) but Cuppcake really shines here acoustically in my opinion. I liked the Ill Blu verson of Say Yes but I like her better singing it like this.
